Privacy first

The vault is encrypted locally.

KimiVault is built for data that should not casually end up in a backend: credentials, tokens, customer notes, internal project details, and private thoughts. If you want to connect multiple Macs, KimiVault only syncs app-encrypted records through your private iCloud database.*

* iCloud Sync is a Pro feature.

Local storage directly on your Mac.

KimiVault stores your vault encrypted on your Mac. Basic and Pro licenses unlock higher limits and Pro features; they do not turn your local vault into a cloud account.

The raw master password is not stored for convenience unlock. Touch ID uses a device-local unlock path. The active key only lives while the vault is unlocked. Auto-lock protects the vault after inactivity.

Pro Sync

iCloud, without trusting it blindly.

With Pro, KimiVault can sync encrypted records through your private iCloud database. The app encrypts before upload. Without Pro, the vault stays local. Apple still processes iCloud account, device, and service metadata.

Optional: sync is not required for local use. Private database: no public iCloud sharing. App-encrypted records: iCloud does not receive plaintext secrets. The vault must be unlocked before sync can work deliberately.

Basic vs Pro

Good to know.

Is KimiVault a cloud password manager?

No. KimiVault is local-first. iCloud Sync is optional and Pro-only.

What does Basic include?

Basic is a licensed local vault for one Mac with the included item limit. Pro adds higher limits and features such as iCloud Sync.

What happens if Pro is no longer active?

Your Basic license remains the local foundation. Pro-only features and Pro limits are disabled until Pro is active again.

Where will the app be sold?

Lifetime licenses are being prepared through Lemon Squeezy. Checkout links will be enabled before launch.
